VENETIAN TOWER-VASILIKO, EUBOEA

South of Chalkis, in Lilandio plain, one of Euboea’s 55 towers stands fearlessly. The square tower of Vasiliko used to be the home of a Venetian feudal lord, which he had received in exchange for his military services. A small community lived within, as the ground floor was a space for storing the agricultural products from the lands cultivated by the peasants, while the first floor was the home of the nobleman’s family.

Currently the tower can be visited, while it operates as an information centre regarding Euboea’s fortification architecture.
