TEMPLE OF ISIS

Dedicated to the glorious Egyptian goddess, as well as other Egyptian deities, the temple of Isis stands out between the baths and the palaestra, behind the city’s small harbour, protecting the merchants who built intangible bridges to the distant East. The terracotta statue of the goddess stood at the centre of the cella, while at the entrance of the temple there was an altar for pilgrims’ offerings.
