MEDIEVAL FORTRESS CASTELLO ROSSO

At sunset, Kokkinokastri (Red Castle) paints beautiful Karystos with the grandeur and legends told by its fortifications. Built by the Lombards, Castello Rosso attracted the Byzantines, the Franks, the Venetians, and the Ottomans. The wind still whispers among its ruined walls that face the gulf of Karystos, telling stories of unparalleled bravery and courage, as well as a love story between the Karystian knight Licario and the young Venetian noblewoman Felisa.
