A place of mystical ceremonies and activities, the sanctuary of the Kabeiroi gods was home to the worship of Kaviros, the divine child that was at its service, and Kavirian Demeter. Pilgrims visited the site and offered to be initiated, in order to win the favour of the gods, and, as a result, fertility for their lands and flocks. The price was their silence. A silence that, to this day, falls like a veil over the character of the religious acts that took place in the Theban Kabeirion.
