HYAMPOLIS SANCTUARY OF APOLLO AND ARTEMIS ELAPHOBOLOS-KALAPODI

One of the most important sanctuaries in Greece, according to Herodotus, was recently discovered by the German Archaeological Institute. The sanctuary of Apollo and Aretmis Elaphobolos belongs to the sanctuaries that were destroyed by the Persians following the battle of Thermopylae in 80 B.C. The architectural remains in the region of Agii Apostoli indicate two temples, one from Archaic and one from Classical times, as well as a Byzantine religious community.
