The Archaeological Museum of Eretria covers the city’s centuries of history with finds from the Early Bronze Age, all the way to Roman times. The museum uses large thematic sections to present the most important examples of ceramics, gold and silversmithing, sculpture, and armaments, both from Eretria and its broader region, highlighting the civilization that flourished there during antiquity. One of the most remarkable exhibits of the Museum is the statue of Theseus and the Amazon Antiope from the temple of Apollo Daphnephoros, while equally well known is the terracotta centaur from the cemetery of Leukanti, which is the earliest representation of this mythical creature.
