CASTLE OF AMFISSA

An ancient acropolis gave up its place for the castle of Amfissa, also known as the castle of Salona or the castle of Oria. Each of its names tells a different story, piercing the walls that were destroyed, rebuilt, besieged, and conquered by Philip II, the Gauls, the Romans, the Bulgarians, the Slavs, the Franks, the Catalans, and the Ottomans, while the beautiful princess Arete, niece of the despot of Salona and prisoner of the tyrannical papa-Stratos who met a tragic fate, comes alive with every gust of wind that blows across its battlements.
