The story of a school that once burst with the voices, running, and laughter of young children, building hopes and dreams, dominates the village of Koryschades. There, in May 1944, Greek prisoners of the occupiers decided that they would fight until the bitter end to provide the gift of freedomδα τους﷽﷽﷽τρελευταο to their homeland. Nowadays, honouring their sacrifice, the locals have transformed the school into a place of knowledge and memory, where the photographs of Spyros Meletzis tell the story of a great struggle.
