CASTLE OF OREOS

The ruins of a castle on a hill created by thousands of people who carried soil for many years, according to legend, stands witness to the splendour of years past during Frankish rule. Built on the walls of the classical acropolis, the castle was repaired during the Byzantine period and it was home to Franks and Ottomans. It is said that in 1275 the knight Licario from Karystos used it as a fortress against the Franks, while the view from the hill has visitors coming to this day.
