CHURCH OF PANAGIA SKRIPOU

As water flowed from Akidalia spring, the spring where the Charites bathed and dressed Aphrodite in her veil, pilgrims were guided over the centuries to yet another place of worship and memory: To the church of Panagia Skripou, which honours the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary through the inscriptions that have decorated its walls since 874 A.D. The most ancient Byzantine church in Boeotia, which used to be the home of Aglaia, Euphrosyne, and Thalia, who tirelessly stood guard of the palace home of the first rulers.
