ANOPAEA ORGANIC ESTATE

“Anopaea Organic Estate” is situated at the slopes of Kallidromo mountain of Fthiotida – Central Greece, just above Thermopylae, at an altitude of 250-450 meters and just below the medieval castle of Mendenitsa, near the villages of Karavidia and Mendenitsa. It is named by the ancient name of the mountain and “Anopaea Nymphe” that was protecting the mountain. It consists of 7 acres of mountainous, unirrigated and unsprayed, organic, family olive grove, where by choice we do not use any sprays or fertilizers, not even the ones that are allowed in organic farming. Most of the olive grove was planted from 2009 and onward, with at least twelve varieties of the olive tree, although there are olive trees that were planted 50-80 years ago. Inside the olive grove, we also have our permanent organic apiary. We produce ultra-premium, multi-awarded, organic, extra virgin olive oils of limited production, from green olives of the Greek olive tree varieties of “MANAKI” & “KORONEIKI”. Our organic EVOOs are “cold” extracted (<27o C), solely by mechanical methods. Unfiltered and bottled by physical flow in numbered bottles are intensively fruity and aromatic, of very low acidity (0,15-0,30% during bottling time) and only from our own personal olive groves. The olive groves are inspected and certified by the Greek Certification and Inspection Organization of Organic Products – DIO, according to the European Regulation 834/2007. DIO also inspects and certifies our production of organic honey. Our honey comes into our beehives from the forests and thousand flowers around the farm. Our estate is one of the open to visitors facilities in Central Greece. A visitor of our farm: can have a guided tour in our farm, learn about agricultural production, participate in several agricultural activities such as the olive tree pruning and olive fruit harvest, come in close proximity with our bees and beehives, learn about honey production and of course taste the organic products of the farm.
